Key Takeaways to Help You Get Good With Money & Become Financially Whole
As always, we’ve rounded up our top three takeaways to summarize what we believe are the core points to remember from Tiffany.
1 - Just Because You Owe Money Doesn't Mean Someone Can Rob You of Your Dignity
2 - Name and Picture Your Future Self
You can build wealth and you can be financially whole, to name and picture your future self. Tiffany’s future self is named Wanda and she’s sitting out on that front porch minding everyone’s business. She sounds like a ton of fun. Thinking into the future is hard for our brains to contemplate especially when it’s feels so distant.
Creating a way to make that person feel very real to you- like a friend you want to take care of helps you make better decisions in the short term. So make sure that when you’re planning for retirement, you’re planning for your Wanda.
3 -You Can Have Amassed Wealth but Not Be Financially Whole
Tiffany mentioned that even when her finances got better, she saved up to almost half a million dollars in cash, and her business was growing like crazy, she still had a lot of financial anxiety. All our money issues can’t be solved with more money. A number of them can of course, but money mindset and the ability to feel secure requires taking a more holistic look at your relationship with money and deciding what you want it to do for you. Why are you building wealth? Why do you need financial security? You get to determine what you want your life to look like.
